چکیده

The performance of direct-sequence spread-spectrum (DS/SS) in packet radio networks suffers from the nearfar problem. This can be mitigated by the use of multiuser receivers. This paper introduces a model for peer to peer communications using a simple parallel interference cancellation (PIC) technique, which requires cancellation of only a few dominant interferers. The system performance is evaluated for various spatial arrangements of users, an d for different loading conditions. Simulation results are provided for PIC.

Single-User Adaptive and Multiuser Receivers for DS-CDMA in Peer-to-Peer Packet Radio Networks

The performance of direct-sequence spreadspectrum (DS-SS) in packet radio networks suffers from the near-far problem. This near-far problem can be alleviated by using either a multiuser receiver or a single-user adaptive receiver along with centralized or distributed power control. This paper compares the feasibility of using a multiuser receiver based on the selective parallel or successive in...

Analysis of Channel Effects on Direct-Sequence and Frequency-Hopped Spread-Spectrum Acoustic Communication

Multiuser underwater acoustic communication is one of the enabling technologies for the autonomous ocean-sampling network (AOSN). Multiuser communication allows vehicles, moorings, and bottom instruments to interact without human intervention to perform adaptive sampling tasks. In addition, multiuser communication may be used to send data from many autonomous users to one buoy with RF communica...

Packet Radio and the Factory of the Future

Spread-spectrum packet radio networks are currently being considered for use in the factory of the future. These networks have the resistance to fading and the inherent multiple access capability that are necessary to interconnect the Autonomous Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and other mobile machines and personnel that will be used in the future factory. This paper reports on progress in the design an...

Optimal arrival-time distribution for delay capture in spread-spectrum packet radio networks

The optimal arrival-time distribution that maximizes the delay-capture probability in spread-spectrum packet radio networks is derived. It is shown that using the optimal arrival-time distribution, the capture probability converges to a finite value as the number of contending users increase. Normalized throughput and average delay is computed for slotted ALOHA random access packet radio networ...

Wideband Measurements of Angle and Delay Dispersion for Outdoor and Indoor Peer-to-Peer Radio Channels at 1920 MHz

This paper presents spatio-temporal measurements for the peer-to-peer radio channel at a center frequency of 1920 MHz with 140 MHz of radio-frequency bandwidth. The measurements were taken using a spread-spectrum channel sounder and an automated spatial probing system that uses precise computer-controlled positioning and orientation of omnidirectional and directional (30 beamwidth) antennas to ...
